Before you call

What services does Sweeneys Tree and Land Mgt offer?
Land clearing, timber management, timber harvesting, forestry mulching and general forest management. We have the tools, equipment and knowledge to tackle almost any forest-related job.
What areas do you serve?
Southern Vermont, Western Massachusetts, the Southern Adirondacks, the Catskills and the Taconics.
How long have you been in business?
18 years. Our owner graduated from Paul Smith's College with a forestry degree.
Can my timber help pay for clearing?
Often, yes. Merchantable timber can be sold to offset the cost of clearing — we look at it during the site walk.
Do you offer free estimates?
Start the quick quote or call us to talk about your land. We walk the property before giving a clear quote.
What is forestry mulching?
A machine grinds brush and small trees into mulch right where they stand — no burn piles and no hauling.
What happens to the cleared wood?
Merchantable timber can often be sold to offset cost. The rest can be mulched, piled or removed — we discuss it before work begins.
Do you clear small lots?
Yes. We quote based on access, terrain and scope rather than a minimum acreage.
Who will look at my woods?
Owner Sweeney graduated from Paul Smith's College with a forestry degree and has been working Northeast forests for 18 years.
How often should a woodlot be managed?
It depends on the stand. We look at species, age and condition and recommend a schedule that fits your goals.
Will a harvest ruin my woods?
Not when it is done right. We plan trails and cuts to protect remaining trees and leave the site clean.
How do I know what my timber is worth?
We walk the stand with you and talk through volume, species, quality and current markets.
Is mulching better than clearing and burning?
For brush and small trees it is usually faster, cleaner and better for the soil since nothing needs piled, burned or hauled.
How big a tree can you mulch?
Mulching works best on brush and smaller trees. Larger timber is cut and handled separately.
What kinds of jobs do you take on?
Almost any forest-related job — clearing, mulching, harvesting, management and access work.
Are you experienced?
We have been in business for 18 years and our owner holds a forestry degree from Paul Smith's College.
